The Unexpected Reunion…

You just never know where a day’s work might lead you, especially when your job is to capture the joyous chaos of weddings.

After wrapping up a wedding shoot one evening, I knew my partner was filming another wedding downtown. Seizing the moment for a bit of fun, I decided to surprise him by crashing that wedding—dressed perfectly for the occasion, I blended right in. I arrived just as the couple’s first dance was underway, so I discreetly slipped into the bathroom to avoid being seen.

Once the dance floor opened up, I made my entrance, blending into the crowd of dancing guests. To avoid drawing too much attention, I struck up a conversation with the people next to me, which turned out to be the parents of the bride and groom. When they inquired how I knew the couple, I candidly confessed that I didn’t—I was just crashing the wedding. To my surprise they were highly amused and offered me drinks at the bar.

Fast forward a year later—just a flawless summery afternoon, capturing another beautiful wedding, I took a brief detour to the bathroom. It was there, in that most unremarkable of places, that I heard a voice behind me say, “I know this sounds weird, but I know you.” Turning around, I faced one of the bridesmaids. Her knowing smile puzzled me as she said “you’re in my wedding album.” The coincidence was too crazy not to celebrate. She immediately grabbed her husband and we took a photo. She later sent me the photos—there I was trying my best to look like I belonged…

So, here they are, the photos that brought us together again, a testament to the unexpected connections that life throws our way. Cheers to spontaneous shenanigans and the stories they create—may we all keep finding joy in the celebration of others, whether we’re on the guest list or not. 🍻 Let’s raise a glass to serendipitous spontaneity.
